Youssef Nabil is an Egyptian artist who creates hand painted gelatin silver prints using techniques that he learned from artisans at photo studios in Cairo and Alexandria. I love how his pastel palette work with the soft edges created by the printing technique—I think his photos are so dreamy in that hazy, staring-at-the-sun-too-long way. Nabil also recently became the first contemporary Arab artist to be invited to show at the Musee d’Orsay! The photo I chose here actually headlines the exhibition.
