Annie John (Jamaica Kincaid)

A short, semi-autobiographical novel of a young girl growing up in Antigua. Follows the protagonist from childhood to aged 17, especially on Annie’s evolving relationship with her mother. Reallllly speaks to what it’s like to feel like you’re becoming a whole person. Big for anybody who has ever been a 14 year old girl before.
