
This is NAWT a euphemism. I think many people find this a useless technique to learn—and I am not arguing whether or not it is—because you can get a similar, less touchy finish with less time and effort. However! While it is tedious, it also isn’t hard to learn, and I actually find it to be a very meditative and satisfying process. Also, it gives you a real appreciation for the beautiful antique furniture of the past and I find that connection to be very grounding in a world where we don’t think much about the things we own. Though, admittedly, I would not want to do it more than three days a week.
